with all of these points of interest being rather niche or don’t necessarily involve people, finding magazines as points of reference that meet the brief is very difficult and using any of these I will have to come up with different ideas or mix and match a few genres. The easiest to replicate and analyse would be alt magazines since there are alt and rock magazines that exist already (such as kerrang) and cosplay being the most niche here but a few magazines do exist for the topic.

If I were to focus on the cosplay magazines it could fall under either mainstream or aspirer depending on the magazine itself since there are a few that look more like an aspirer magazine and others that look much more mainstream

This magazine is much more minimalistic with little info on the front to bring most of the attention to the model on the front. The magazine has typical conventions of a title that runs along the top, an issue number and very little about the magazine on the front. A magazine like this looks more like an aspirers magazine, being more minimalistic and is bringing a lot of attention to the model and that aspect of the magazine rather than relying on text to sell the issue

This magazine is a stark contrast to the first with having a lot more text on the front telling the reader what is inside the issue. The first focus point is still likely the models on the front but more text can entice the reader to pick it up and buy the magazine since they know what they’re getting off right after picking it up. The magazine does have the title on the top, issue number, date of issue and subheadings with info and including more eye catching parts such as the speech bubble and circle of text. This magazine resembles one much more like a mainstream magazine, with much more of the text and offers to sell the magazine.
